Who I Am
My name is Teresa Vazquez, and I am a proud First-Generation, Latina Therapist. I am a Licensed Master of Social Work in the State of Texas and a Licensed Social Work Associate Independent Clinical in the State of Washington. Growing up, I had it tough, but I always knew that no matter how hard life may be at times, I was the one in control of how I responded to the adversities I faced. If you are looking for someone to support you, hear you out, empower you, encourage you, but call you out when need-be, you've come to the right place!
Who I Have Served
For over 18 years, I have worked with children, youth, families, adults, and transitional aged youth in either the community setting, in education, or in therapy. I work with victims of abuse, those who have suffered childhood trauma, members of the BIPOC community, those who struggle with autoimmune disorders, and individuals who are in a transitional phase in their life.
My Approach
There is only one true expert in a therapeutic relationship, and that is the client. Can I help you process an event in your life? Absolutely! Will I push you to think outside of your own perspective? Sure will! BUT, I can't encourage you to do something that you know you are not equipped, or ready to do. I utilize solution-focused and strength-based models to help us remain focused on the here-and-now. That doesn't mean that the past doesn't influence who we are today, but we can't stay focused on only our past; we have to be willing to be Redefined by Ambition (see what I did there) in being a more fierce, stronger, resilient version of ourselves.
